Durango: Wild Lands — an open-world dinosaur survival MMO — went dark in December 2019. In 2026 it lives again on four fan-run servers, free to play. This wiki tells you how to get in, what the game was, how its systems work, and how to level every skill.

History — rise, fall, afterlife
From a 2018 Korean launch to a 2019 shutdown, through a 2022 sequel reveal, to the 2026-09-08 cancellation of Durango World — and the fan revival that refuses to end.
What Durango: Wild Lands was
- Genre: open-world sandbox survival MMORPG (dinosaur / prehistoric setting), mobile-first.
- Developer / publisher: the game's original studio.
- Platforms: iOS, Android (later a PC Creative Island-only build). Languages: KR, EN, zh-TW, TH, DE, FR, RU, PT, ES.
- Premise: your train derails into a rift in time and space; you wake on an island of dinosaurs and extinct fauna, alongside survivors ripped from different eras. Ever-shifting islands (“Durango”) keep appearing and vanishing. Shadowy organizations — the Company, The Committee, Frontier Coalition, Chlorophyll Forum — recruit you over the radio: some want to restore technology, some to keep the land wild, some just to rescue survivors.

Why it died (2019)
The shutdown was quiet; analysis points to corporate restructuring + low profitability (rumored KRW 1B server upkeep vs KRW 100M revenue). The game never got its full roadmap; regions like Vietnam never officially launched it.
Charlie (intro NPC) got the last line on Creative Island: “It's the last gift, so take care of yourself.”
The canceled sequel: Project DX → Durango World
- Developed by an internal sequel team (reorganized after a 2022-03 studio merger). Open-world MMORPG inheriting “dinosaurs + crafting”, upgraded graphics/systems; PC/console targeted.
- Revealed G-STAR 2022 (2022-11-08) with the “Beyond the Durango” teaser; the original producer clarified he was only indirectly involved (2022-12).
- Second teaser G-STAR 2024 (2024-10-30). Trademark “Durango World” filed 2025-08. New leadership took over the team from 2025-08.
- Through early 2026 the publisher publicly defended the project (shareholders' meeting March 2026; kept in pipeline May 2026, release window 2027)…
- …then halted it on 2026-09-08 (≈4 years after reveal). No public build, code, or assets were released — and fans are loudly asking the rights holder to open-source it so the community can run servers (top-voted sentiment on r/DurangoWildLands).
What this means for players
The sequel dream is officially over for now — but the fan servers (built from scratch, not from any leaked build) are the only live continuation of the game. See Play today.
